The Ballena National Marine Park was created to assure
the maintenance of critical marine reproductive habitats and to preserve
the productivity of many biological communities that inhabit the Pacific coastal
zone of Costa Rica.
Location and Directions
The park stretches from the southern end of Playa
Hermosa to the northern end of Playa Piñuela,
including Playas Ballena and Uvita, It covers marine area about 9 miles
seaward, along a series of coral reefs and rocky shoals and Ballena Island.
